This past Saturday an explosive artistic fusion of ‘Mardi Gras’ and the fiery (in a very literal sense) elements of the Year of the Dragon was unleashed within the elegant confines of the Arts Ballroom in Center City Philadelphia.

The event featured The Philadelphia Suns who magnificently showcased an intricate drum and Lion Dance, to the delight of onlookers clad in traditional jewels of Mardi Gras (aka the coveted shiny beads) Stoli Elit Luge shots in hand.

To enhance the aesthetics of bold color and blazing dance movements was Funtown Productions. The crowd was completely enthralled by the intense dance-hula hoop moves and fire manipulation being done by three spirited (and gorgeous) Funtown fire performers. There was even some live body painting going down via the hands of Matt Deifer of BodyPaint.Me

This Dragon Gras was the first event of its kind in the city and will not be seen again for another twelve years. If this Saturday was any indication of how the next one will turn out, Dragon Gras 2024 is going to be an electrifying time.
