Restaurateur boasts menu additions and design, along with new homestore and boutique hotel

Every native 'Philadelphian' is aware of Ms. Tootsies, the venerable Soul restaurant located on South Street.  The historic restaurant is now open again following an extensive renovation and the addition of new menu items.  Keven Parker, owner and manager, also took it a step further is launching KDP Lifestyle and Luxury Suites, a home store and a boutique hotel, located adjacent to the restaurant.

With upgraded seating and chic décor to match, Ms. Tootsie’s now features deep-black Sambuca hued flooring and enhanced wall treatments throughout. Black and white photos of musicians line the walls of the 2nd floor R&B room, decorated in deep reds and satiny blacks; freshly commissioned art work and velvet walls outline the 3rd floor Skybar (my favorite addition the new space); and plush leather couches, flat screen televisions, and walls lined in steel grey velvet with a contrasting metallic damask motif welcome guests onto the 4th floor Luxe Lounge. Also new to Ms. Tootsie’s is the 1st floor ‘Love Lounge’,      an all-white room highlighted with dark wood accents and dim lighting, created specifically for dining couples. Comfortably sitting 150 for dinner, the restaurant will also include outdoor valet parking.

What’s more, the restaurant’s menu features 6 new additions sure to please every palate:

  • Pulled Pork Sliders
  • Lobster Macaroni and Cheese
  • Herb Crusted Grilled Lamb Chops with Fried Apples
  • Bourbon Braised Short Ribs with Sweet Home Fries
  • Signature Soul Rolls - Crunchy Spring Rolls Wrapped with Chicken, Yams and Cabbage
  • Ms. Tootsie Pop's - Deep Fried Chicken Drummettes in the Shape of a lollipop served with a Tangy Dipping Sauce

“There has never been a need to reinvent soul food; it’s great as it is,” says Parker. “What we’ve done with Ms. Tootsie’s is take it to the next level and make dining more of an experience to be remembered and treasured.”
