Of all of the iconic locations that the city of Philadelphia offers, few are more enjoyed so regularly than Rittenhouse Square. Surrounded by lovely architecture and high-end eateries, the square provides city inhabitants and visitors a tiny taste of green serenity among the concrete streets of center city.
The vitality of the square, unfortunately, does come at a cost. And to ensure that Rittenhouse Square remains the linchpin of center city, the Friends of Rittenhouse Square are holding their 29th annual “Ball on the Square” this Thursday, June 21st.
A black-tie event hosted in support of square beautification and maintenance efforts, all in attendance will be donning their finest evening wear to support one of Philadelphia’s most treasured landmarks. Specifically, this year’s fundraising effort will be directed towards critical lighting upgrades that will enhance safety and discourage graffiti and vandalism.
Presented by the Wolk Law Firm, and featuring food by Stephen STARR Events, the ball looks to attract more than 400 Philadelphians for a glamorous evening under a tented Rittenhouse Square.
For the younger supporters of the square, the 2012 “Young Friends Ball on The Square” will be hosted simultaneously across the park at Smith & Wollensky. Beginning at 8pm, this is a black-tie optional event that will be restricted to those that are between the ages of 21 – 35. And although the main ball in the square is sold out, there are still a few tickets left to the 'Young Friends Ball on The Square.'
Tickets to the “Young Friends Ball on The Square” can be purchased here.
