With spring coming to a close, the city of Philadelphia is preparing to kick the summer off with a culinary bang. Returning for its 7th run, the Great Chefs Event will once again host 40 of the best chefs from around the globe to benefit Alex’s Lemonade Stand and the Vetri Foundation for Children.
Beginning in 2006 as a small tasting by restaurateurs Marc Vetri and Jeff Benjamin, the Great Chefs Event has blossomed into a nationally recognized fundraiser. All in support of the fight against childhood cancer, the who’s-who of celebrity chefs will include: Jose Garces, Masaharu Morimoto, Antonio Rocchetti and Tom Colicchio. The evening will also host signature cocktails from an impressive list of local mixologists. Tom Peters from Monk’s Café and Steve Wildy from Alla Spina are among those that will be lending their liquid talents for the cause.
In addition to enjoying some of the finest food and drink prepared by the world’s greatest chefs, attendees can also look forward to a silent and live auction. Among the variety of items up for grabs, bidders will have the opportunity to win a home cooked meal from a number of James Beard Award-Winning chefs.
Held at the impressive Urban Outfitter’s campus at the Philadelphia Navy Yard, the 2012 Great Chefs Event is scheduled for June 12th from 6 – 9pm.
